The Taiwan government is trying to explore the benefits of using mobile devices to enhance the effectiveness of student learning. While many plans and projects have been launched, but the results are still meager. This research is thus aimed to discover the benefits and challenges of promoting mobile learning in Taiwan. 120 self-developed questionnaires were delivered to five junior high schools that have participated in governmental mobile learning projects. The results indicated that teachers give higher average scores to the benefits of mobile learning than drawbacks. The major benefits include inspiring students' learning interests, improving students' concentration, enriching the curriculum contents, and enhancing learning conveniences, while school members lacking internet security literacy and lacking adequate competences to effectively apply mobile learning in the classroom are perceived as the major challenges.
