For college students and faculty in any program of study, the Web is a vast resource of material. Information on almost any subject is just a click away. Tools to help organize and use the information are plentiful, and for the most part free. However, the availability of material on the Internet can be both a blessing to faculty and a dilemma. Plagiarism has become a much larger concern in the era of the World Wide Web. It is, however, a problem faculty can control with a few simple actions. The key is prescreening of Web site materials and resources. Locate and review sites on the Internet related to specific subject matter for validity and usefulness. Determine which sites and tools are acceptable in advance. Faculty can then compile a listing and make them available to students and inform students these are the only sites and tools acceptable for research, papers and projects during the course. Once the listing is in place, make sure the student population documents and properly cites material used from the Web sites. This article presents a list of 28 sites that can be utilized with other programs of instruction. These sites comprise six news sites, six alternate and free word processor programs, four alternate and free browsers. The remaining technical and educational sites deal with computer and electronic technology. All the sites listed have one feature in common; they are trusted and tested resources freely available to faculty and students.
