Dual Enrollment: An Institutional View
Pretlow, Joshua; Henderson, Mihaela; Caves, Lesa
Community College Journal of Research and Practice, v46 n10 p763-767 2022
Dual enrollment, especially at community colleges, has experienced rapid growth in the recent past, which contrasts with declining enrollment of many other student groups. However, there is a dearth of national evidence to demonstrate if institutions are converting dual enrollment students into regular enrollments after high school graduation. We use the student transcript study of the High School Longitudinal Study (HSLS:09) to provide national estimates on enrollment in a dual institution after high school graduation. We provide disaggregated estimates by student and high school characteristics as well as by first postsecondary enrollment after high school graduation. We then briefly discuss implications for institutions.
