The global market and ever-changing economy have led to a demand for high school students to be college and career ready. One way to assist students in reaching this goal of being college and career ready is through the implementation of dual enrollment programs. Dual enrollment programs allow high school students to earn college credit while attending high school (Garcia et al., 2019). Prior research studies have indicated the positive and negative aspects of these programs, with one of the negative aspects being a lower representation of underrepresented students in these programs. This case study aimed to understand South Carolina's high school counselors' perceptions of colleges' dual enrollment programs, including how these perceptions shape their advisement and recruitment of underrepresented students. This study aimed to provide insight into school counselors' experiences recruiting underrepresented students into dual enrollment programs and what they feel influences students' participation in these programs. Data was collected and triangulated through interviews, digital audiovisual aids, and member checking. Purposeful sampling was implemented for this study. School counselors had to meet specific requirements for the interview process. The collected data was hand-coded and coded through Qualtrics to obtain the themes. Peer coding was implemented to ensure validity. The themes that emerged from the data aligned with the research questions and the theoretical framework of this study.
