Rhode Island High School Diploma System Technical Assistance Bulletin
Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
This Technical Assistance Bulletin is to be utilized by districts and schools to design and implement their components of the Rhode Island High School Diploma System (Diploma System) as required by the RI Board of Regents' "Regulations Regarding High School and Ensuring Literacy for Students Entering High School" (Regents' Regulations) issued in January of 2003. Its purpose is to help make connections among the state's secondary-school reform strategies and key policy expectations to ensure consistency and comparability of graduation requirements across all high schools. Districts and schools should use this guide as a roadmap for developing their own plans and examining in detail how secondary-school reform will be accomplished in their individual schools. Five appendices include: (1) Content Description; (2) Universal Design for Rhode Island's Learning and Teaching Community: (UDLTC); (3) Problem Solving Approach; (4) Glossary; and (5) Timeline for Implementation. (Contains 2 footnotes and 6 tables.)
