The recent popularity of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) education has begun a new renaissance in education. STEAM education demolishes the silos, and from the wreckage it creates a learning environment that embraces multiple discipline areas within the curriculum and allows content to be fluid rather than rigid, enabling teachers to collaborate and create something inspiring (Hunter-Doniger, 2017). As a pedagogical practice, STEAM allows children to learn subject areas concurrently and understand how STEAM disciplines are interrelated, and how they support one another. This article examines the question, What is the effect of a child-centered approach to learning as an artist/scientist? The results revealed that the STEAM camp that is the subject of this article embraced this learning approach, which amplified children's innovation, individual learning, and artistic opportunities.
