Energy: Types, Evaluation, Conservation
Parra, Jessica Zlockie
Geography Teacher, v16 n1 p15-26 2019
A lot of the activities of daily living require energy, playing video games, making dinner, turning on the lights, using a computer, and perhaps even brushing our teeth requires energy. In this unit students discover what energy is, think about where it comes from, analyze options for making energy evaluate feasibility in different parts of the world, and discover ways that they can be a part of conservation efforts. This unit assumes that students have had practice writing opinions, taking notes, and thinking critically, even in first grade. Each day, there will be a video to look up, a book to obtain, or a hands-on activity to prepare. Teachers can find this easily in the days' description for each day of the unit, and it is the author's advice to look through the plan first to make sure everything is ready.
