Educators Tear through the Hype: A National Survey + Educator Profiles. Technology Counts, 2019. Education Week. Volume 38, Issue 30
Education Week
K-12 educators do not believe the continued expansion of new technologies into U.S. schools is transforming education. In fact, a new nationally representative survey of 700 teachers conducted by the Education Week Research Center shows that fewer than one-third of America's teachers said ed-tech innovations have changed their beliefs about what school should look like. To change that dynamic, some school and district leaders are turning to innovation lessons from the business world, which tends to be more open to risk taking; education companies are trying to do a better job solving problems for schools; and teachers are showing how experimentation with digital tools can improve classroom instruction. Articles in this issue include: (1) U.S. Teachers Not Seeing Tech Impact (Benjamin Herold); (2) Choosing Pragmatism Over Shiny New Things (Benjamin Herold); (3) Business Principles At Work (Michelle R. Davis); (4) CEOs Target Problems To Solve (Michele Molnar); and (5) Four Teachers Show Their Ed-Tech Solutions (Madeline Will & Sarah Schwartz).
