Comment on "New Direction for CCBD?"
Nelson, C. Michael
Behavioral Disorders, v37 n1 p46-49 Nov 2011
As a member of Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders (CCBD) for over 40 years, and having served on the Executive Committee (EC) for over 10, this author is firmly bonded to the organization, and appreciates the EC's efforts to address the challenges facing it today. Obviously, foremost among these challenges is a substantial decline in membership. Peck et al. (2012, p. 31) suggest that if CCBD "supplies well-focused, relevant support to its members," the decline in membership may be arrested. In this article, Nelson elaborates on some of the issues that affect the organization's ability to provide this support, and offers some thoughts regarding what professional support might look like.
