Ten Practical Reflections for Educational Leaders
Tobin, James A.
AASA Journal of Scholarship & Practice, v6 n1 p55-58 Spr 2009
In this article, the author presents ten practical reflections for educational leaders. The author states that educational leaders should: (1) know themselves and where they are going; (2) not be overly prepared; (3) link with others; (4) measure their words; (5) take responsibility; (6) keep others informed; (7) maintain their perspective; (8) have the courage to make the right decision; (9) know that all they really have is their integrity; and (10) enjoy themselves. These can serve as reminders for veteran administrators and guidance for developing leaders so that they will know what to do when the time comes. These ten reflections certainly do not represent a compendium of knowledge about school leadership; however they do provide a practical guideline for survival.
