Implications of Information Technology Training on Retirement-Age and Post Retirement-Age Workers

The working retired population is more populated now than ever before in human history. There have been various studies in the area of Information Computer Technology use in the workplace, the area of workforce training, and the area of training of individuals within various age groups, but little to no research addressing the experience of working individuals over the age of 65 receiving Information Computer Technology training. This study serves to fill that gap. This study found that the experience of working retired individuals in receiving ICT training involved recollections of past experiences with ICT in the workplace. This study also found that a structured curriculum and an empathic training approach with the purpose of arming the trainees with knowledge and thereby encouraging the trainees' self-efficaciousness and learning agility to absorb that knowledge was generally received as a positive experience. This experience also encouraged trainees to continue to or plan to continue to train further in the future.
