Rottinghaus, Patrick J.; Coon, Kristin L.; Gaffey, Abigail R.; Zytowski, Donald G. – Journal of Career Assessment, 2007
This study reports a 30-year follow-up of 107 former high school juniors and seniors from a rural Midwestern community who completed the Kuder Occupational Interest Survey (KOIS) in 1975 and 2005. Absolute, intra-individual, and test-retest stability of interests, and predictive validity of occupations were examined. Results showed minor absolute…

Zytowski, Donald G.; England, Raymond J. L. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1995
A combination of high occupational score and a low men-in-general or women-in-general score on the Kuder Occupational Interest Survey is moderately predictive of interest stability and occupational consistency. (Author)

Kuder, Frederic; Diamond, Esther E.; Zytowski, Donald G. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1998
Predictive validity, generally taken to be the prime validity that occupationally normed interest inventories should demonstrate, is dependent on the capacity of an instrument to differentiate between occupations. A comparison of two methods of differentiation shows that a method using proportions of each occupational group to assign item-scoring…

Zytowski, Donald G. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1974
One hundred and two males and females were located 25 years after they had taken a KPR-B at an average age of 14 years. Fifty-three percent were engaged in occupations consistent with their highest interest scores, although 32 percent were in occupations consistent with their lowest scores. (Author)

Zytowski, Donald G. – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 1976
More than 1000 persons were located more than 12 years after taking the Kuder Occupational Survey. Fifty-one percent were employed in occupations consistent with their early interest profiles. These people did not report greater job satisfaction or success but did show greater continuance in their occupational career. (Author/SE)

Zytowski, Donald G.; Laing, Joan – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 1978
Investigated the relationship between KOIS twin scales normed separately on males and females for occupations and college majors. Rankings on own- and other-gender-normed scales correlated highly. The scales were approximately equal in predictive validity. Rankings on other-gender-normed scales provided an accurate estimate of expected rankings on…

Zytowski, Donald G. – Career Development Quarterly, 1996
Analyzes selected results of four Kuder Occupational Interest Surveys administered over a 30-year span. Consistencies and changes are observed, leading to a conclusion supporting the "thematic" interpretation of interest inventory results. Relatively stable themes emerged which portrayed a coherent picture of a self in a vocational as…

Hansen, Chris J.; Zytowski, Donald G. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
A measure of the extent to which the Kuder Occupational Interest Survey (KOIS) was predictive of occupational membership for an individual was correlated with KOIS item and scale scores. Results indicated that the KOIS was a moderator of its own predictive validity. (Author/JKS)
