Examined errors in the reference lists of journal articles over four decades, using the Personnel and Guidance Journal and an information science journal as data sources. Faults and errors occurred in 40-45 percent of the entries in the last three decades, but were lower in the mid-1950s. Explores implications. (Author/KS)

Examined one volume year of each of four journals in the social sciences to compare 1,278 quotations against original sources. Found 89 quotations could not be found and 519 (43.7 percent) contained one or more inaccuracies ranging from punctuation to significant differences in meaning. Discusses implications. (Author/ABL)
