Rinse, Reuse and Scream
Sutley, Jane
Arts & Activities, v145 n4 p26-27, 34 May 2009
The author of this article describes how her eighth grade art students heighten their awareness of differences between their public self and their inner self by: manipulating water bottles to create sculptural self-portraits; constructing armatures of the generic person in "The Scream" by Edward Munch; finding and collecting examples of images and words that symbolize and represent things they dread, and things they present about themselves to the public; and decoupaging the cut-out images and words onto their sculptures.
