Alternative Approaches to Educational Evaluation: A Self-Study Guide for Educators.
Stufflebeam, Daniel L.
This manual includes two self-instructional modules relating to the evaluation efforts of Michael Scriven and Daniel L. Stufflebeam. By working through the first module the reader can develop a basic understanding of Scriven's three main evaluation contributions: formative-summative evaluation, goal-free evaluation, and the Pathway Comparison Model. The second module, based on the work of Stufflebeam, stems from a critical analysis of classical evaluation theory and the development of the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) Evaluation Model. Each module contains a list of objectives to study, written material summarizing each author's ideas, a knowledge test of the material, application exercises, and answers to the test questions. This manual is in the formative stage and has not been field tested. (RC)
