Learning Community Foundations.
Gabelnick, Faith; MacGregor, Jean; Matthews, Roberta S.; Smith, Barbara Leigh
New Directions for Teaching and Learning, n41 p5-18 Spr 1990
The contemporary conception of learning communities addresses modern problems, but its roots are in early 20th-century reform movements. Combining curricular structure and some pedagogical insights from these earlier experiments and much theory about the teaching/learning processes from John Dewey, learning communities provide an economically viable way to address educational issues in the complex political economy of modern institutions.
