McCarty, Shane M.; Mullins, Taris G.; Geller, E. Scott; Shushok, Frank, Jr.
Journal of College and Character, v14 n4 p373-379 Nov 2013
A professor and a group of student leaders initiated the Actively Caring for People (AC4P) Movement to establish a more civil, compassionate, and inclusive culture by inspiring intentional acts of kindness. This article explores the AC4P Movement in a first-year residence hall at Virginia Tech and a second-year residence hall at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a discussion of the findings. Using research-informed practice, the AC4P Movement on college campuses aims to foster student engagement, sense of belonging, and reinforce shared community values and beliefs.
