Assessed attitudes of 171 white college freshmen toward blacks and Hispanics in different personal and social situations. Student responses to the Situational Attitude Scale revealed that subjects had more negative feelings toward blacks and Hispanics than toward persons whose race was not noted, particularly in situations involving close personal contact.
