Applying Standards to Improve Programs for Visually Handicapped Children and Youth in Residential and Day Schools.
Scholl, Geraldine T.; And Others
The three papers describe current projects in the field for the visually handicapped which are directed toward improvement of educational programs in both day and residential settings. The first paper (by F. Roberts) reviews the process employed for revising the standards for residential schools. Discussed in the second paper (by G. Scholl) is the study to develop a similar self-study and evaluation guide for day programs. In a final paper, S. Spungin examines two projects--one on identifying competencies needed by teachers of the visually handicapped and the other on the formulation of guidelines for public school programs serving visually handicapped children.
