The first section of the directory provides 2,068 references and cross-references to financial aid programs designed primarily or exclusively for minorities. All areas of the sciences, social sciences and humanities are covered. The focus is on programs open to American citizens and tenable in the United States or abroad. Entries are grouped into six categories: scholarships, fellowships, loans, grants, awards and internships. Each entry consists of an entry number, program title, sponsoring organization, purpose, eligibility, financial data, duration, special features, limitations, number awarded, and deadline. The second section of the directory identifies the state agencies to contact for information on educational benefits for residents. Agencies are grouped by type of support (state financial aids and guaranteed student loan programs) and listed alphabetically by state within the two categories. The third section of the directory provides an annotated list of the 75 key directories published in 1980 or later that list sources of financial assistance for anyone, regardless of minority status. In addition, program title, sponsoring organization, geographic, subject, and calendar indexes are provided. (KM)
