Those who have followed this column know that the author has been talking for a long time about the marginalization of social studies in K-12 curriculum. He strongly believes that the effective teaching of social studies is being pushed out of schools. And that's simply wrong and dangerous. In this article, the author offers some websites that he thinks will provide individuals and groups with information they can use to promote social studies/citizenship education and defend it within the curriculum. Some of these have information already formatted for presentation or which can be easily turned into a PowerPoint or other format. All of these sites provide links to other sites that can help individuals or groups prepare materials for presentation to both educational groups and the general citizenry.
