Using the 1999-2000 National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Salary Survey, estimated relationships between senior student affairs officers' (SSAOs') supervisory responsibilities for 23 functional areas and public or private support, institutional classification (college or university), and mean SSAO salary. Regression analyses indicated that age of respondent and gender were the most consistent predictors of salary within many of the high-level student affairs positions at both public and private institutions.
