West Atlanta Elementary School: 1986-87 School Report.
Popwell, Emma
This report from the West Atlanta (Georgia) Elementary School provides information on student achievement for the 1986-87 school year. The school serves students in kindergarten through grade 7 and the Program for Exceptional Children, and receives support from the Chapter 1 program. The narrative presents 26 findings concerning enrollment, attendance, reading achievement, and math achievement. Conclusions and recommendations generated from these findings are the following: (1) 62 percent of the third grade class met promotion requirements at the first exam; (2) the performance of students on achievement indicators was sufficient to allow for the promotion of 81 percent schoolwide; (3) the performance of all students was above the national norm; and (4) attention must be focused on those grade levels with a high rate of retention. Statistics and test scores are presented in 17 tables. (VM)
