How the Alchemy Makes Inquiry, Evidence, and Exclusion.
Popkewitz, Thomas S.
Journal of Teacher Education, v53 n3 p262-67 May-Jun 2002
Modern teaching and teacher education "magically" transform sciences, social sciences, and humanities. The alchemy of school subjects provides a way to think about frames of reference organizing inquiry and constitutes evidence in teacher education, also obscuring the normalizing and dividing practices of teaching (including reformulating questions of diversity into a particular curriculum enactment with consequences for social exclusion and inclusion).
