Making Change Happen: What Programs Can Do to Turn Things Around
Neugebauer, Roger
Exchange: The Early Childhood Leaders' Magazine Since 1978, n187 p94-97 May-Jun 2009
In this article, the author shares some of the ideas from 10 programs that make change happen in their community. Among others, the Sunshine House in Greenwood, South Carolina has implemented a program in selected markets that they called "Families First." This program is geared for families who have experienced a lay-off or reduction in work force due to the economy. The program allows a family to continue their regular enrollment at 50% of their weekly tuition for a set period of time. This allows the family to adjust to their situation and gives the parent(s) time to work on their job search.
