The personalities of 30 National Defense Education Act Guidance Institute counselors were studied. A composite self actualization score for each counselor was derived from the evaluations of three staff members who knew him most immediately. Findings are offered as evidence that the POI can measure self actualization among normal adults. (Author)

Superior students' capacities for intellectual and aesthetic experience appear to be highly actualized. However, their excessive independence appears to be thwarting to another important area of human fulfillment, i.e., living in rewarding interpersonal relationships. (Author/CJ)
