Problems encountered in attempting to conduct survey research among Vietnamese refugees in San Diego include inaccurate sociodemographic responses (arising from fear and suspicion regarding researchers' motives), pressure on interviewers to take sides in ethnic and political conflicts, and difficulties in obtaining reliable samples.
