How Text Difficulty and Reader Skill Interact to Produce Differential Reliance on Word and Content Overlap in Reading Transfer.
Faulkner, Heather J.; Levy, Betty Ann
Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, v58 n1 p1-24 Aug 1994
Examined three factors that influence rereading transfer in children: story relatedness, reading ability, text difficulty. In four experiments, elementary school students read pairs of texts related by word overlap, content overlap, both kinds of overlap, or no overlap at all. Extent to which children benefited from word or content overlap depended on interaction of reader skill with text difficulty. (TM)
