Comparison of Three Theoretically Derived Variables in Predicting Career and Academic Behavior: Self-Efficacy, Interest Congruence, and Consequence Thinking.
Lent, Robert W.; And Others
Journal of Counseling Psychology, v34 n3 p293-98 Jul 1987
Explored differential contribution of three alternative variables in explaining career-relevant behavior in science and engineering students. Results revealed that self-efficacy was the most useful in predicting grades and persistence in technical/scientific majors, self-efficacy and congruence contributed to prediction of range of perceived career options, and congruence offered significant incremental variance in explaining career indecision.
