One of a series of instructional packets to aid schools in reducing sex stereotypes, this inservice guide for use with school personnel is designed to reiterate the necessity for careful examination and evaluation of testing materials to determine the degree to which they are free of sexual discrimination, bias, and stereotyping. The applicable section of Title IX (Education Amendments of 1972) is presented, and commonly-used types of tests are discussed. Contents include a leader's script (material to be presented), one transparency master and two handout masters. Topics covered include uses and abuses of guidance tests (achievement, aptitude, and interest tests), recommendations for use of career interest inventories, and guidelines for assessment of sex bias in career interest inventories.
