This diesel technology series offers secondary and postsecondary students an opportunity for learning required skills in the diesel industry. It aligns with the medium/heavy duty truck task list developed by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation and used by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence in certification of medium/heavy duty truck technicians. The teacher edition consists of introductory pages, teacher pages, and the student edition. Introductory pages include training and competency profile; national skills and/or state duty/task crosswalk; instructional/task analysis; basic skills icons and classifications; basic skills matrix; and tools, equipment, and materials list. Teacher pages include some or all of the following: unit contents (teacher and student components); suggested activities; answers to assignment sheets; written test with key; learning activities sheet; teacher supplements; and transparency masters. The student edition contains some or all of these elements: unit contents; objective sheet; information sheet; student supplements; assignment sheets; and job sheets. The 17 units are divided into these 4 sections: introduction to engine principles and procedures; engine systems and components; fuel systems; and engine diagnosis and maintenance. (YLB)
