Infants and Toddlers: Getting to Know Babies' Temperaments
Honig, Alice Sterling
Early Childhood Today (1), v19 n6 p20-23 Apr 2005
In this article, the author describes three major temperament categories of infants and toddlers, and why each calls for particular insights and attention. For infants, the temperaments are cautious, fussy, and easygoing. For toddlers, the three most prevalent temperaments are fearful/shy, irritable/active/fussy, and easy. This paper also contains a section on the best ways of caring for fussy infants and toddlers, as well as a "Letter to Families" that details temperamental traits of children that parents should report to their child's teachers.
