This competency test package was developed, based on the results of a needs assessment of postsecondary office occupations instructors in Texas, to test transcription competencies taught in audiovisual instructional modules. However, the tests, accompanied by performance objectives, are of a general nature and could be used to evaluate competency of any instructional method in the area of developing and improving transcription skills. The competency test package includes a list of performance objectives; a pool of objective questions matched with these performance objectives; a sample, 50-point objective test; and several performance test activities. The package also includes complete directions for the student and the instructor, plus answer keys and a guide for evaluating the tests. A section on administering the tests to handicapped students is also included. (KC)
