Views through Three Windows: A Study of the Purposes and Usefulness of On- and Off-Job Training.
Harris, Roger; Simons, Michele
Australian and New Zealand Journal of Vocational Education Research, v7 n2 p55-80 Nov 1999
A survey of Australian building trade apprentices (n=76), their employers (N=73), and their vocational teachers (n=103) revealed three distinct perspectives on learning environments in on- and off-job training. Personalities, self-interest, and work cultures color attitudes. Although both sites make different contributions to learning, on-the-job training is perceived to have the most influence. (SK)
