Distributions were accomplished to demonstrate the relationships between age, educational level, and Armed Forces Qualification Test scores of the 1965 airman accessions and their reenlistment desirability at the completion of their initial tour. The largest percentage of undesirable enlistees was found in the high school non-graduate, Category 4, and seventeen year old groups. Using these three categories of variables, it was found that it would be possible to eliminate 34 percent of the undesirables, although 76 percent of the individuals falling in this three category group actually proved to be successful in their military careers. It was emphasized that caution should be used in attempting to establish a screening procedure to identify undesirable enlistees since a significant number of potentially qualified personnel might be excluded at the same time.
