Directions for Change: A Career Development Workbook. 3rd Edition.
Goodman, Jane; And Others
This career education workbook for adults is designed to promote self-directed career exploration. The workbook activities are arranged to help the users complete the following steps in an organized fashion: (1) gather information about themselves, their current situations, realities and practicalities, and the larger world; (2) evaluate information by defining values, ranking values, and making choices; and (3) clarify goals by exploring alternatives and reaching decisions. These steps are illustrated in a graphic model called the "Arrow Decision-Making Process." Examples of some of the workbook activities include inventories, surveys, and questionnaires designed to identify occupational personality types, assess values, clarify goals, evaluate career possibilities, and assist the user in applying for jobs and writing resumes.
