Resnick, Ilyse; Jordan, Nancy C.; Hansen, Nicole; Rajan, Vinaya; Rodrigues, Jessica; Siegler, Robert S.; Fuchs, Lynn S. – Developmental Psychology, 2016
Development of fraction number line estimation was assessed longitudinally over 5 time points between 4th and 6th grades. Although students showed positive linear growth overall, latent class growth analyses revealed 3 distinct growth trajectory classes: Students who were highly accurate from the start and became even more accurate (n = 154);…

Fuchs, Lynn S.; Fuchs, Douglas; Karns, Kathy; Hamlett, Carol L.; Katzaroff, Michelle; Dutka, Suzanne – American Educational Research Journal, 1997
The effects of a task-focused goals (TFG) treatment in mathematics were studied with low-achieving students with or without learning disabilities. Results with 40 elementary classrooms showed that TFG students enjoyed the approach, but that increased effort was associated with greater learning only for those without learning disabilities. (SLD)

Locke, Wendy R.; Fuchs, Lynn S. – Journal of Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, 1995
Evaluation of peer-mediated reading instruction with three fifth-grade and sixth-grade boys with behavior disorders found that marked improvement in on-task behavior and positive peer-to-peer comments corresponded to the implementation of peer-mediated instruction. (Author/DB)

Fuchs, Lynn S.; And Others – 1983
The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of a basal reading series mastery test. Subjects were 21 fourth graders, who were tested once on the SRA Reading Achievement Test, twice on the Holt Basic Reading Series Management Program Level 13 Test (MPLT), and once on the Word Reading Test. Traditional psychometric…

Mathes, Patricia G.; Fuchs, Lynn S. – Learning Disabilities Research and Practice, 1993
This study of 67 intermediate grade students with reading difficulties found that students in a peer-mediated sustained reading condition performed better than peer-mediated repeated reading students and control students receiving typical reading instruction, on fluency but not on comprehension. No effect for the level of text difficulty was…

Allinder, Rose M.; Fuchs, Lynn S. – B.C. Journal of Special Education, 1991
Effects of a summer break on the math computation skills of students in grades five through seven classified as either learning disabled or nonspecial education low achievers were investigated. Results indicated that only fifth grade low-achieving students regressed significantly following a summer break. (Author/JDD)

Fuchs, Lynn S.; Fuchs, Douglas; Karns, Kathy; Hamlett, Carol; Katzaroff, Michelle; Dutka, Suzanne – Elementary School Journal, 1998
Examined how well three measures, representing points on a traditional-alternative mathematics assessment continuum, discriminated fourth graders achieving above, at, and below grade level, and how cooperative testing affected performance assessment. Found strong discriminative validity for the more traditional measures but not for performance…

Fuchs, Lynn S.; Fuchs, Douglas; Eaton, Susan B.; Hamlett, Carol; Binkley, Edward; Crouch, Robert – Exceptional Children, 2000
This study compared performance of 181 students with learning disabilities (LD) and 184 students without LD on tests under four conditions (standard, extended time, large print, students reading aloud). Students with LD profited differentially from reading aloud but not from extended time or large print. The assessment based on data predicted…

Fuchs, Lynn S.; Mathes, Patricia G. – 1991
This manual was developed as part of a project investigating the effectiveness of class-wide peer mediated reading instruction with middle grade students having mild disabilities and reading difficulties. It explains the procedures for introducing, implementing, and monitoring the project's version of repeated reading, in which pairs of students…

Fuchs, Lynn S.; Mathes, Patricia G. – 1991
This manual was developed as part of a project that investigated the effectiveness of class-wide, peer-mediated reading instruction with middle grade students having mild disabilities and reading difficulties. It explains the procedures for introducing, implementing, and monitoring the project's version of sustained oral reading practice, in which…

Fuchs, Lynn S.; And Others – Remedial and Special Education (RASE), 1988
The study assessed the criterion, construct, and concurrent validity of four informal reading comprehension measures (question answering tests, recall measures, oral passage reading tests, and cloze techniques) with 70 mildly and moderately retarded middle and junior high school boys. Results indicated that correct oral reading rate score…

Fuchs, Lynn S.; Mathes, Patricia G. – 1991
This report studied intermediate grade students identified as learning disabled in a resource room setting to examine the effects of adapting repeated reading and sustained reading while manipulating level of text difficulty in a peer-mediated format. Twelve resource room teachers identified 67 students with learning disabilities and reading…

Fuchs, Lynn S. – Preventing School Failure, 1992
This study examined computerized classwide applications of curriculum-based measurement (CBM) to improve teachers' math planning within large group instructional settings, using a mathematics operations curriculum in 10 sixth grade classes. Preliminary findings suggest CBM increases teachers' abilities to incorporate students with disabilities…
