Federico, Pat-Anthony; Landis, David B. – 1980
This study, the fourth in a series conducted at the Navy's Basic Electricity and Electronics School for a computer managed instruction project, reports the relationships among selected measurements of student cognitive styles, abilities, and aptitudes. Measures of these characteristics for a sample of 166 graduates of BE/E were analyzed to…

Federico, Pat-Anthony – 1984
To provide converging support that the integration of analog and propositional representational systems is associated with spatial ability, visual, auditory, and bimodal brain event-related potentials were recorded from 50 right-handed Caucasian male recruits at the Naval Training Center, San Diego. Sensory interaction indices were derived for…

Federico, Pat-Anthony; Landis, David B. – Contemporary Educational Psychology, 1984
Measures of six cognitive styles, six abilities, and 12 aptitudes were administered to 20l Navy recruits. Relationships among all cognitive attributes and between sets of styles and aptitudes were examined. Results indicated that many styles are significantly related to abilities and aptitudes. Federico, Pat-Anthony – Behavior Research Methods, Instruments, and Computers, 1991
Using a within-subjects design, computer-based and paper-based tests of aircraft silhouette recognition were administered to 83 male naval pilots and flight officers to determine the relative reliabilities and validities of 2 measurement modes. Relative reliabilities and validities of the two modes were contingent on the multivariate measurement…

Federico, Pat-Anthony; Liggett, Nina L. – 1989
Seventy-five subjects (Naval F-14 and E-2C crew members) were administered computer-based and paper-based tests of threat-parameter knowledge represented as a semantic network in order to determine the relative reliabilities and validities of these two assessment modes. Estimates of internal consistencies, equivalences, and discriminant validities…

Federico, Pat-Anthony – 1970
This reported investigation is the Phase I effort of a task which undertakes to develop a new student critique form for Air Training Command (ATC). Specifically, it deals with the identification of valid and reliable psychometric measures of student attitudes toward Air Force technical training. Two critique form prototypes were developed using a…

Federico, Pat-Anthony – 1984
To determine whether individual differences in student achievement and learning rate are reduced or eliminated by mastery instruction, 166 Navy trainees who had completed a computer-managed course in basic electricity and electronics were cluster-analyzed into groups, using 24 measures of cognitive characteristics. Discriminant analyses were…

Federico, Pat-Anthony – 1984
To ascertain whether cerebral lateralities can be considered aptitudes or individual difference measures within an aptitude-treatment-interaction (ATI) framework, hemispheric asymmetries and cognitive psychometric tests were administered to 50 right-handed, Caucasian, male Navy recruits. Principal factor analysis with varimax rotation was computed…

Federico, Pat-Anthony – 1984
To ascertain changes in cognitive correlates of learning as students advance through hierarchical instruction, 24 individual difference measures were obtained from 166 Navy trainees who had completed a computer-managed course in electricity and electronics. Principal component analysis and varimax rotation were computed for cognitive…

Federico, Pat-Anthony – 1989
To determine the relative reliabilities and validities of paper-based and computer-based measurement procedures, 83 male student pilots and radar intercept officers were administered computer and paper-based tests of aircraft recognition. The subject matter consisted of line drawings of front, side, and top silhouettes of aircraft. Reliabilities…
