Effects of Age of Acquisition on Grammatical Sensitivity: Evidence from On-Line and Off-Line Tasks.
Emmorey, Karen; And Others
Applied Psycholinguistics, v16 n1 p1-23 Mar 1995
Using a video sign-monitoring task in American Sign Language, this study investigated the effects of late exposure to a primary language on adult linguistic processing. Native signers were sensitive to errors in both verb agreement and aspect; early and late signers were only sensitive to errors in aspect morphology. Late exposure was found to affect the on-line integration of verb agreement. (39 references) (Author/CK)
