In this appendix to the Content Area Reading Project report, five instruments administered to teacher participants are examined: two attitude surveys, a skill test, a questionnaire to obtain demographic information, and the Purdue Teacher Opinionaire, which is a measure of teacher morale. This work first presents the attitude surveys, skill test, and opinionaire, and then examines the following topics: purpose, background, development, reliability, and validity of each of the five instruments, selection of the sample population for the project, treatment measures, evaluation measures, and limitations of the study. Findings based on data gathered during the project are then presented under the following general headings: characteristics of the junior high school teachers, attitudes among the junior high school teachers, morale levels among the junior high school teachers, skill levels among the junior high school teachers, and characteristics, attitudes, morale levels, and skill levels in the teachers of adults.
