Extent and Consequences of Welfare Dependence among America's Children.
Duncan, Greg J.; Wei-Jun, Yeung J.
Children and Youth Services Review, v17 n1-2 p157-82 1995
Examines the consequences for children of life in families that receive at least part of their income from welfare. Suggests these children appear to complete less schooling, even after adjustment for other differences between recipient and nonrecipient families. Low family income and maternal employment are also found to reduce completed schooling, which complicates welfare-to-work policy choices. (AA)
