Group Time: Creating a Community of Learners
Church, Ellen Booth
Early Childhood Today, v19 n3 p54-55 Nov-Dec 2004
By this time of year children have gotten to know each other and have almost mastered the routine. Now is the time to work together to create a community of learners. Group time is the perfect place to get started. The social dynamics of sharing, listening, taking turns, and respecting others are practiced everyday in meetings together. By helping children focus on cooperation and collaboration, connections to strengthen the group for the rest of the year can be created. This article presents some fun ways to help children connect with one another. (Contains a list of 3 resources.)
