This videotape explains common vision tests used with infants with multiple disabilities, shows how to gather information from parents on their children's use of vision, and demonstrates selected early intervention strategies for encouraging infants and young children with multiple disabilities to use their vision in functional ways. The videotape is organized into the following segments: vision tests for infants, which demonstrates tests for checking infants' ocular health, fixation and eye alignment, pupillary response, refractive error, and visual acuity; corrective lenses, which highlights the importance of consistent use of lenses for infants with refractive errors; a discussion between parents and an early interventionist focused on an infant's diagnosis and his use of vision; a discussion between parents and the early interventionist focused on a toddler's diagnosis and their observations of his developmental skills; and parents discussing reactions to their children's diagnoses and feelings about parenting.
