Selected Investigations of the Reliability of the Teacher Performance Assessment Instruments (A Working Paper).
Capie, William; And Others
A study investigating the degree of agreement between teacher evaluators using a standard set of evaluation criteria and evaluation methods examines the test reliability of the Classroom Procedures Assessment Instrument, the Interpersonal Skills Assessment Instrument, and the Teaching Plans and Materials Assessment Instrument. Two statistical indexes resulted from the study. One index illustrates the amount of exact agreement between raters; the second indicates the amount of near agreement. The indexes, along with other statistical information, are compiled for six different cases of investigation: 1) interrater agreement using the TPAI in training situations (such as with beginning teachers); 2) internal consistency of ratings using the TPAI; 3) interrater agreement using the TPAI classrooms; 4) interrater agreement using the TPAI in training situations (student teachers); 5) internal consistency of ratings using the TPAI (student teachers); and, 6) interrater agreement using the TPAI in classrooms (student teacher).
