Elderly Service Workers' Training Project. Resource Material. User's Guide.
Harvey, Dexter; Cap, Orest
This manual is intended to assist instructors and facilitators in making effective use of the instructional modules of the Elderly Service Workers' Training Project (ESWTP) and provide technical development information regarding the ESWTP authoring system. (ESWTP training materials have been developed to help human services personnel understand older adults' personal beliefs, attitudes, and perspectives; learn to empathize with older adults; and develop the skills necessary to provide effective human services to older adults in a manner consistent with different cultural backgrounds. The modules are divided into the following three major blocks: basic knowledge of the aging process, cultural gerontology, and work environment.) The first part of the manual reviews each of the 21 modules. Each module topic is defined in terms of general objectives, and multiple-choice and true/false test questions and answers are provided for each module. The second part is intended to provide educational researchers, programmers, and instructional product developers with insight into the design, processes, system components, and other related technical aspects of the development of the ESWTP materials and to enable them to make full use of the ESWTP authoring system (even if they have no computer programming skills whatsoever).
