Career Guidance: A Handbook of Methods.
Campbell, Robert E.; And Others
The book describes over 600 current career guidance methods, some of which have been subjected to rigorous evaluation. Designed to allow quick access to information needed to solve highly specific problems, the book describes important and potentially useful methods applicable to career guidance that are currently in practice or in the experimental/developmental stage. The methods are organized according to selected criteria, and a conceptual framework is provided for selecting methods appropriate for meeting specific guidance goals with specific student populations. Besides presenting a number of distinct guidance approaches, the book provides information about specific steps needed to design applications of those approaches for a particular guidance setting. Models and procedural guidelines for developing a total career guidance program are also provided. The authors identify gaps and discrepancies in career guidance methods. The methods are considered according to their appropriate educational level, particular target groups, and type. Abstracts of the methods reviewed comprise approximately 150 of the document's pages. An abstract method index and general index are included together with a 20-page list of references. (Author/AG)
