Followup studies of a teacher education program emphasizing active field experience in public schools revealed that graduates had a high rate of success in obtaining teaching jobs. This study was designed to find out what factors were involved in the process of hiring these students. A comprehensive forced-choice questionnaire was submitted to principals and others in decision-making positions to discover what were the most important criteria in the final decision to hire an applicant for a teaching position. Results of responses provide a profile of administrative thinking in weighing personal and professional abilities of applicants. Results also give a picture of the attitudes of administrators toward the school the applicant attended and the kind of education programs considered by them to be effective. Questionnaire results are presented in tabular form with narrative exposition. Appended to this report is a Job Search Model that has been used by graduates of the program under examination. (JD)
