Statistical data on the status of state scholarship programs are presented. A history since 1969-70 of state funded need-based undergraduate scholarship/grant programs is reviewed briefly, followed by tables of dollars and number of awards by state. The awards are for state residents to attend either public or non-public colleges or universities. Program characteristics are ranked regarding percentage change in total state funding, index of effort, dollar value of awards, and types of recipients. A NASSP directory is included. (LBH)
