This booklet is the first in a series of ten programed instruction units which was developed as a career related language arts program to teach library skills to junior high school students. The objective of this unit is to be able to perform the tasks required of library assistants under the supervision of the school librarian. Students study the material, answer questions, and complete practical exercises at their own pace. The booklet is illustrated with cartoons and drawings. (JAB)
