Day Camp Manual: The Day Camper. Book III.
Babcock, William
The third book in a 5-book manual on day camping discusses the campers themselves. Section I provides a case study of the pre-school camper and the counselor. Section II addresses the needs and characteristics of children from ages 6-12 and describes what children need from parents, teachers, playmates, and community. Section III discusses the programs, leadership styles, personal objectives, camp atmosphere, and intercamp relationships that appeal to campers over 12 years of age. Section IV discusses the place of the different or atypical child in a camp situation by presenting case studies of campers with emotional, physical, and mental problems. The final section is a discussion of discipline as a matter of human relations. A reading list completes the book. (SB)
